Tasks and Timelines
The following information is based on the most recent timeline published by the NRC committee. (For more clarification, visit the NRC Web site.)
July 2006
- Mathematica Policy Research will start calling ICs during the second half of July to discuss procedures for collecting the relevant program names.
- Institutional and Program questionnaires will be finalized, and the final versions will be posted before the end of July.
August 2006
- August 4, 2006 is the last day to submit the Letter of Commitment for institutions that want to participate in the study. If your institution would like to participate please contact Rae Allen at (202) 334-2700 or reallen@nas.edu.
- Spreadsheets with program names will be due about one week after the initial telephone call from MPR.
- Distribute institutional questionnaire, with all completed institutional questionnaires due by December 15, at the latest.
- Distribute program questionnaires, with all completed program questionnaires due by December 15, at the latest. (Note: This questionnaire can be pre-populated by the IR office and passed on to the program).
- Spreadsheets with faculty and student names will be due about two or three weeks after the program names.
September-October 2006
- Distribute the faculty questionnaires and their invitations to participate--- either through the IC or through the NRC contractor (preferred). Schools can specify when they want these distributed. All completed faculty questionnaires should be received by December 15, at the latest.
October-November 2006
- Distribute student questionnaires and their invitations to participate--- either through the IC or through the NRC contractor (preferred). All completed questionnaires should be received by December 15, at the latest.
November-February 2006
- Work on raising response rates (December for program questionnaire, November-February for faculty and students).
April 2007
- IC validation of all program data will take place between December and April, with all validated program data due April 30, at the latest.
May-September 2007
- Committee prepares analytic essay.
September-October 2007
- Essay and database in review.
Late Spring 2008
- Database and essay released
Late 2008
- Conference on uses of assessment data
