The program offers an emphasis either in biomechanics or exercise physiology with two primary objectives: to provide a sound basis for advanced graduate training; and to prepare students for careers in the exercise, sport, or allied health fields. Program features include advanced aspects of human biology in the measurement of human performance and supervised laboratory research, including that entailed in the thesis project; the opportunity to work with both human and computer models in the measurement of physical performance; the qualitative prescription of exercise; and the elements of evaluating the biological effects of training programs designed to affect the enhancement of health/fitness or improved athletic performance.
This program is an interdisciplinary Graduate Group.
