Admission Requirements

  • Minimum TOEFL score for the Dept. is 600 on the paper test, 250 on the computer-based test, and a minimum total score of 100 based on the reading, listening, writing, and speaking categories on the internet-based test for TOEFL (iBT)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • GRE scores

Students gain advanced knowledge of structural materials; materials for biotechnology and medicine; characterization of microstructures; thermochemistry of materials; nanomaterials; glasses and ceramics; high-temperature materials synthesis; interface reactions; advanced coating systems; materials processing; materials testing and strength; optical and electronic/ionic materials; superplasticity; and advanced coating systems. Students graduate with the qualitative and quantitative skills necessary for professional research and teaching in materials synthesis, characterization and processing.

This is a departmentally-based Graduate Program.
