The M.S. program provides students with some background in theoretical statistics as well as substantial familiarity with the most widely used statistical methods. The supervised statistical consulting required of all M.S. students has proven to be a valuable educational experience. The Ph.D. program includes a subspecialty in the area of biostatistics. Students obtain a solid background in mathematical statistics and at the same time acquire comprehensive skills in modern biostatistical methods, data analysis and applications. The Ph.D. program combines advanced coursework in statistics and probability, balancing theoretical and applied topics. Students are given the opportunity for in-depth concurrent study in an applied field.
