The Design Program offers a two-year Master of Fine Arts degree to a limited number of select students. The program encourages an interdisciplinary approach within our four key areas: visual communication (print and screen-based design), exhibitions, interior architecture, and textile and fashion design. Connections and collaborations with our California Lighting Technology Center and with other departments are also encouraged. Studies blend focused research and creative practice with an understanding of key design issues in history, theory, research methodology and sustainable design practices. Depending on the area emphasis, the MFA degree culminates in either an exhibition of creative work or thesis.
This is a Departmentally-based Graduate Program.
