AGEP Scholars Description

The UC Davis AGEP Scholars program, offered through the Office of Graduate Studies, is designed to engage and benefit entering graduate students. These benefits include:

  • Summer research stipend ($6,000)
  • Mentored research program with faculty members
  • Weekly seminars and workshops
  • Advising and interaction with faculty and current graduate students
  • Summer preparation on transitioning to graduate school before school year begins

Commitment

Incoming graduate students accepted into the Scholars summer program are expected to:

  • Attend weekly seminars and workshops
  • Work with professors and assist with summer labs in your department
  • Form study groups with other AGEP Scholars
  • Meet with AGEP coordinator and staff weekly
  • Research planning on conferences and graduate fellowship funding opportunities
  • Produce final poster or Powerpoint presentation of completed summer lab work

Application and Selection Process

  • Be accepted in a graduate STEM program for fall 2009
  • Fill out a completed AGEP Scholars application and statement by May 29, 2009
  • Identify Research Faculty on your application from your graduate department that align with your research interests
