Choosing a university for your graduate work is a complex process. There are many factors to consider: the scholarly reputation and teaching abilities of the faculty; the quality of the student body; the extent of the research facilities; the match of your interests with those of the program you choose; and the style and setting of the campus itself. Keeping these important requirements in mind, UC Davis has much to offer you.
With a large variety of programs, in both the arts and sciences, UC Davis is the most academically diverse campus in the UC system. Many of our programs are offered through graduate groups, an interdisciplinary concept providing students the opportunity to study and work in interrelated areas to broaden their intellectual experiences. Our faculty members are among the finest scholars in academia – excellent teachers and mentors, with national and international reputations that bring honor to the campus and to their programs. They are members of prestigious professional societies and recipients of the highest honors in their fields.
Laboratories and research facilities provide our students with the finest equipment and services. Our library system at UC Davis provides more than 2.5 million volumes readily available, plus an intercampus acquisition system that allows use of materials from nine other UC campus libraries, as well as the California state library.
Here you will find a relaxed and informal atmosphere, with close collegial ties between faculty and students. Respect, support and encouragement are the hallmarks of the scholar’s life at UC Davis. Our students are highly qualified and come from every point on the globe, attracted by the reputations of both faculty and fellow students. This mix of cultures and ideas makes Davis a vital and exciting place to live, study and work.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your program of choice. Should you choose UC Davis for your graduate study, it will be my pleasure to welcome you as a member of our campus community.
