The Divisional Academic Senate of each UC campus appoints a Graduate Council responsible for all policies and procedures related to graduate education on the UC Davis campus. Graduate Council makes recommendations concerning new programs leading to existing graduate degrees, and the qualifications of departments and graduate groups for initiating new programs leading to existing graduate degrees and numerous other matters germane to graduate affairs.
