Application Timeline

The application for the Envision UC Davis program consists of two parts: a questionnaire and personal essays.

Envision 2025 Application

Application Deadline: June 30, 2025

Minimum Qualifications

All are invited to apply to Envision UC Davis, including individuals who have perspectives or experiences of groups who are historically underrepresented in higher education. Individuals must meet the following minimum qualifications to participate:

  1. Have a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA
  2. Be a senior undergraduate or recent bachelor's degree graduate (domestic students only)
  3. Plans to attend graduate school in Fall 2026 or 2027

Please note: UC Davis students and employees are not eligible to apply for Envision UC Davis. 

Preparing Your Application

Please be sure to prepare your application materials in advance. Once you start the application, you will not be able to save your progress and return at a later time to complete it. Be sure to allocate enough time to complete the entire application in one sitting. We encourage you to preview the full application before you begin.

Application Checklist

You will need the following components to complete your application:

  • Academic information, including GPA, any awards or honors, and a list of recently attended colleges 
  • Graduate program of interest 
  • Three personal essays (see prompts below)

Personal Essay Prompts

Before you begin your application, we recommend writing the essays in advance. 

1. Research History (250 words or less)
Please provide a brief description of any faculty-mentored research experience(s) that you have had. If you have not had faculty-mentored research experiences, please describe the type of research or research topic that you are interested in pursuing as a graduate student.

2. Personal Statement (500 words or less)
Please describe your career goals and your motivation or passion for pursuing graduate studies. Highlight how you came to determine your career goals and why you feel a graduate degree is essential to pursuing your goals. Feel free to include information about why you feel Envision UC Davis will be beneficial to your academic and professional pursuits.

3. Principles of Community Statement (500 words or less)
The UC Davis Principles of Community reflect our community’s commitment to serving the needs of a global society comprising all people and a multiplicity of identities. The university expects that every member of our community acknowledge, value, and practice the guiding principles. Please describe how you would support the UC Davis Principles of Community. Feel free to use examples such as your educational, familial, cultural, economic, or social experiences, challenges, community service, outreach activities, residency and citizenship, first-generation college status, or opportunities relevant to your academic journey.
