While earning a graduate degree is exciting, the journey can be long and challenging. Graduate students, in particular, may struggle to manage school, finances, and self-care. The combined stress can affect your academic functioning level and your overall well-being.
Counseling Services (part of Student Health and Counseling Services) provides student-centered mental health services, advocacy, outreach, and consultation to promote psychological well-being and academic success. Meeting with a counselor can help students clarify issues, explore options, and cope more effectively.

Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) offers mental health urgent care services on the first floor of the Student Health & Wellness Center during normal hours of operation.
Our Crisis Text Line is free, 24/7, immediate and confidential texting service for those in crisis. Text RELATE to 741741 from anywhere in the U.S. to text with a trained Crisis Counselor. You can also visit the Aggie Mental Health website for more options for crisis and mental health resources.
If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Individual Counseling
Short-term individual counseling services are offered in person or online. Schedule an appointment via the Health-e-Messaging secure portal.
If students need more frequent or longer-term services, referrals can be provided to work with a counselor in the community. These services are accessible by using your SHIP insurance plan or private insurance.
Group Counseling
Group counseling is a power, effective treatment modality. Groups offer a space where members can relate to one another, feel less alone, and learn to building meaningful connections as they share their feelings and experiences with other students who experience similar concerns. If you are interested in group services, schedule a One Time Visit or Group Screening appointment with one of our counselors via the Health-e-Messaging portal or call (530) 752-0871 to discuss your options. Some of the groups are specifically designd for graduate students.
