Graduate Studies to Establish Multi-Year Fellowship Program

Deans’ Distinguished Graduate Fellowship

Quick Summary

  • Graduate Studies unveils new, multi-year fellowship program.

This week, Graduate Studies unveiled plans for the Deans’ Distinguished Graduate (DDG) Fellowship, a new, multi-year funding program for incoming graduate students.

The new program, which will go into effect in fall 2017, is designed to provide long-term funding to approximately 25 incoming graduate students each year. Modeled after the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program, the program will guarantee five years of funding at the time of admission. Funding for the program was provided by the Provost and will be allocated by Graduate Studies with matching funds from the deans of the UC Davis schools and colleges.

“With this fellowship program, the University can reinforce our commitment to providing a supportive and successful graduate career at UC Davis to prospective students,”  said Prasant Mohapatra, Vice Provost of Graduate Education and Dean of Graduate Studies. “Demonstrating that we are committed to student success will allow us to attract, retain and empower a diverse population of talented graduate students and will enhance our leadership in research and graduate education.”
