Dipak Ghosal named Prem Chand Jain Family Presidential Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Computer science professor Dipak Ghosal has been named the inaugural Prem Chand Jain Family Presidential Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This new role will provide an opportunity for graduate students within the College of Engineering to expand their entrepreneurial mindset by providing resources to implement their innovative ideas.

Political Science Ph.D. Candidate Nahrain Rasho Awarded Peace Scholar Dissertation Fellowship from the U.S. Institute of Peace

University of California, Davis, Political Science Ph.D. student Nahrain Rasho has been awarded a Peace Scholar Dissertation Fellowship from the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) for their outstanding dissertation on Conflict Analysis and Prevention.

Announcement: Cancellation of Fall 2020 Commencement

On October 16, Chancellor May announced the cancellation of the in-person Fall 2020 Commencement ceremonies. “Under public health guidelines, it is just too large an event to be held safely,” said May. “We had been looking forward to this commencement, not only for our fall graduates, but for others who wished to return after missing their in-person commencements last spring.”

Psychology Graduate Program Coordinator Angela Scully Receives Outstanding Graduate Program Coordinator Award

The recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Program Coordinator Award should have the characteristics of a true leader: Inspiring, impactful, committed to UC Davis. Graduate Studies received numerous nominations and all of the nominees have shown excellence in graduate student support and advising this year.  It is our great pleasure to announce and congratulate Angela Scully as the winner of the 2020 Outstanding Graduate Program Coordinator Award. 

Neuroscience Grad Student Nicole Claiborne Awarded the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Gilliam Fellowship

UC Davis graduate student Nicole Claiborne and her advisor, Professor Karen Zito, are among the 45 doctoral students and their advisers awarded the  Howard Hughes Medical Institute's Gilliam Fellowships to advance diversity and inclusion in the sciences.

UC Davis Student Progress Assessment Tool Earns Honorable Mention in Larry L. Sautter Award Program

The UC Information Technology Leadership Council has announced that Graduate Studies' Student Progress Assessment project was selected for honorable mention in the 2020 Larry L. Sautter Award Program. 

The honorable mention is one of six awards and four honorable mentions that was presented at the Virtual UC Tech Webinar, hosted by UCLA on August 11, 2020.

Grad Studies Announces Recipients of Inaugural Graduate Program Advising and Mentoring Awards

On July 1,  Graduate Studies announced 34 recipients of the Graduate Program Advising and Mentoring Awards. Faculty were nominated by their graduate programs for outstanding excellence in advising and mentoring of graduate students. Graduate programs highlighted faculty for their service to the program, commitment to advising and mentoring, and positive impact on graduate students and colleagues.
