These awards shine a light on the power of mentorship in shaping the academic and professional journeys of UC Davis graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

We are thrilled to announce Anusha Bishop, Erin Huiting, and Jeremy Yeaton, have been selected as three of the 33 early-career postdoctoral researchers from UC Davis for the Life Sciences Research Foundation (LSRF). This record-breaking class is the largest in LSRF’s history, making 2026 a truly historic year for the Foundation. This milestone was made possible through the extraordinary generosity and continued partnership of LSRF’s sponsors, whose investment in exceptional early-career scientists is helping shape the future of biomedical research.

Graduate Studies established the GradPathways Institute for Professional Development (GPI) in 2004 to support an enhanced professional development ecosystem at UC Davis for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

Graduate Studies and Graduate Council are pleased to present awards for outstanding mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The Distinguished Mentoring Awards recognize the vital role mentoring plays in the academic and professional development of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at UC Davis.

Amber M. Davis, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral scholar at the UC Davis MIND Institute/Psychiatry department. She is a graduate of Howard University’s Ph.D. Social Work program and started her postdoctoral position at UC Davis in 2019. 

Charlie Casey Nicholson, a UC Davis postdoctoral researcher, won the contest to find the first bumblebee of the year. 

Arpana Vaniya, academic coordinator in the West Coast Metabolomics Center at the UC Davis Genome Center, recently received a Trailblazer Award for Mentoring from Million Women Mentors, a global movement to spark interest and confidence in girls and women to pursue STEM careers and leadership.
